Transparency crusader Mildred Atty Owiso unable to get pro-bono legal representation

Date:

By Dorcas S

“We have been unable to find a lawyer who can represent her pro-bono. Everyone we are talking to is asking for file opening fees” – Wanjeri Nderu-Musembi

Is this true – that one of the driving forces behind BB-Ke Mildred Atty Owiso CANNOT find pro-bono legal representation – against whatever charges she’s currently facing from this AM’s arrest?

– How many lawyers are her “friend” – personally and on social media?

– How many lawyers have verbalized “support” for the many causes she, along with Buyer Beware-Kenya, have championed?

– How many lawyers have benefited from the efforts of BB-Ke? What of relatives of lawyers? Friends of lawyers?

That someone who has been at the forefront of a movement – BB-Ke – that from all accounts has been relentless in pursuit of social justice – ESPECIALLY for those without the financial wherewithal; without a voice – cannot find a lawyer or lawyers to step up during her time of need is very telling.

It is further evidence that a majority of Mildred’s “friends” in the legal fraternity are far from “friends in indeed” – now that she is “in need”.

We talk a good game but rarely put our money where our mouth is and that BB-Ke cannot find pro-bono representation for Ms. Atty says it all.

Un-eff’n-believable!!

Winnie Majani adds:

Friends of Mildred Atty Owiso, please stand up.

“Hello BB. We are still at the police station. We have managed to see Atty for a few minutes.

We need to get her a lawyer. We are not getting one who will appear for free.

We are appealing for your contribution to assist in getting her a lawyer to represent her.

You can send your contributions to Wanjeri Nderu-Musembi on 0721333435 and as is the norm share your MPESA messages for accountability purposes.”

Thank y’all

#FreeAtty

It is getting bad, very bad
