Ksh. 180,000 stolen from customer after Equity bank celebrated of 35 years existence

Date:

A few days after celebrating 35 years of existence, Equity Bank’s revamp seems to be in name only.

A Mombasa Hawker is accusing the bank of stealing his Ksh. 180 k savings from his account.

James Liayuka who sells carrier bags at kongowea market in Mombasa says he had saved the money at the bank for almost 3 years.

Unfortunately, all his savings have mysteriously vanished from his account held at Equity Bank

When will the CBK take action?, because the DCI are too slow and the Banking Anti-Fraud unit seems to have been bought.

The cases of theft by staff especially through Equity Bank’s Equitel are alarming.
