Massive WALK OUT in DP Ruto’s meeting in Elgeyo Marakwet

Date:

Business was not as usual for Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday after he received a hostile reception in Elgeyo Marakwet after a section of leaders pulled a massive walkout from the meeting he was to address.

Ruto was in the area to broker a peace deal between the warring residents of Marakwet, West Pokot and Baringo.

Trouble began when the Marakwetes refused to be part of the meeting and pulled a walk out.

“We cannot have a meeting with the Pokot when one of our own is still in the mortuary. Our culture does not even allow us to meet with the Pokot,” declared one of the leaders.

However, normalcy was restored after Marakwet West MP William Kipsang intervened urging the warring communities to engage in peace talks.
