NASA supreme leader ‘president’ Raila Odinga has denied claims that he is behind the move by NASA/ODM senators to kick out Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula from the Senate Minority Leader position, the embattled tough talking yet weak Bungoma senator can breathe a sigh of relief.
The people’s president was speaking at Mosocho, Kisii during the burial of Prof Tumbo Oeri, a NASA strategist who succumbed to heart attack last week. Raila denied knowledge of Wetangula’s ouster adding that only NASA summit has powers to remove him from the position.
“I am also seeing this on papers and I have spoken with my colleagues. I am not aware of the unfortunate plans.”
Other NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi have also voiced support for Hon Wetangula, in a statement to newsrooms, ANC spokesman Barak Muluka read in part; “The three principals have reaffirmed their total confidence in Wetang’ula as the official leader of the Minority in the Senate. Their support for Wetang’ula in this regard is unwavering.”
Yesterday Thursday 15th March the ODM party wrote to the senate speaker informing the house of the decision to overthrow Wetangula and subsequently replacing him with his Siaya counterpart Hon James Orengo.
The move has created yet another division within the coalition with Wetangula promising that the impending divorce in NASA will be ‘noisy and messy’.
With NASA given until Monday to formally elect Orengo, Raila’s version of story may as well mean that the Siaya senator will after all not replace Wetangula and that the ODM senators will have to put up with the Wetangula.
Earlier on Friday morning, Raila is said to have called his co-principals and dissociated himself from the motion in senate.
