Senate deputy whip Hon Irungu Kangata had a special day today, married his longtime sweetheart at a ceremony marked with pomp, colour and reggae. President Uhuru was among the guests, others were his colleagues from parliament turned up to witness the occasion.
Hon Kangata is the most popular Mt Kenya politician mainly due to his politics of pro poor.
Kangata lives a simple life, drives simple car and is always with his Muranga people every other weekend.
Kangata is a Law graduate from the university of Nairobi. He was the most popular student leader having been elected as SONU vice chairman while in second year. He was later expelled from the university by the Moi regime in 2000 and was re-admitted by the Kibaki regime in 2003. In 2013 Kangata enrolled for a Master degree Law (LLM) and graduated in 2015,he is a PhD registered candidate at UoN and of all goes well will graduate end of 2019/2020.
He is presumed to be the presumptive heir of the Governor seat replacing the outgoing Mwangi wa Iria.
