World and America’s most respected and most powerful black woman, media executive, talk show host, actress, selfless philanthropist and television producer Oprah Winfrey has showered Nairobi governor Mike Sonko with waters of saintly accolades following the speech he delivered in the recently concluded UN Conference.
Speaking to journalists in Ohio after a charity event, Oprah said she is impressed by the developmental steps taken African nations in bid to catch up with the rest of developed nations. Oprah was responding to a question by senior FOX TV correspondent Kelly Wright who sought her opinion on the economical roles played by African countries.
As a case study, she gave an example of colourful speech delivered at the recently concluded United Nations conference by flamboyant Nairobi Governor H.E. Mike Mbuvi Sonko who was nominated to speak on behalf of other African cities. The conference took place at the UN Headquarters in New York.
“Thanks Kelly for that question. You are black just like me. As an African American, I want to express my satisfaction on the path Africa is taking. When I listened to the Nairobi governor speak at the conference on behalf of other African Cities, my heart was filled with joy and hope. I became hopeful that Africa is on the right trajectory and despite challenges, it’ll get there soon. That intelligent, handsome and soft spoken guy gave me a lot of hope. He made me feel proud as an African woman and I am certain the future is even brighter” She said.
Oprah also said she will be launching charity organizations across Africa to help restore the dignity of an African woman.
