NTV’s Ken Mijungu under fire for a shoody DP Ruto interview

Date:

*VETERAN JOURNALIST KWAMCHETSI MAKOKHA’S TAKE ON RUTO’S NTV INTERVIEW.*
I wish my younger brother Ken Mijungu of NTV had prepared better for his big interview with Ruto. His absence of research was evident in two early instances in the interview.

1.Ruto claimed that people were hired to go to court to stop his candidacy in 2013.
The truth is that known Kenyan organizations sought to know whether Uhuru and Ruto were eligible to run for election given the cases against them.
The High Court said it did not have jurisdiction to decide questions on presidential elections, and erroneously slapped the Petitioners with costs(overturned on Appeal).

2. Ruto claimed that the trial magistrate asked why he was on trial in 2004.
Significantly, the magistrate suddenly resigned after the judgement.
Ruto appointed Hellen Njue who was slated as a key witness against him in the case as a member of the the Coffee Development Fund. She never showed up in court and never gave evidence.

3. Why did he withdraw the appeal against the damning High Court judgement in Muteshi land case?.

4. The ICC case against Ruto was terminated because there was insufficient evidence , but one of the Judges noted that there had been “Intolerable levels of witness interference”.
Not to dissimilar to the Hellen Njue occurrence.

5. Ruto claimed the scheme to revive his ICC cases had been freshly hatched. Why did he not speak out when the ICC prosecutor informed the UN that she had received new evidence against him?
