Sonko fires back at PS Kibicho after vandalisation of SRT coronavirus sanitation booths

Date:

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has pointed an accusing finger at Interior PS Karanja Kibicho over alleged frustrations in efforts to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.

This is after sanitation booths installed in Kibra constituency by Sonko Rescue Team were vandalized, prompting Sonko to take his frustrations to social media.

According to Sonko the public sanitisation booth at the Kibra Deputy County Commissioner’s office were removed by individuals acting under strict instructions.

He added that Nairobi Regional Coordinator Wilson Njenga, whom he contacted, confirmed that the instructions were from the Interior PS.

It is understood that the Regional Commander had received instructions that all SRT activities being done now should be done by the Nairobi Metropolitan Service ( NMS).

This has raised legit questions among residents on the interest Kibicho and Njega have in the NMS.

Last week, the govenor refused to sign the supplementary budget which had allocated Sh 1billion to the NMS,citing a breach of the article 187(2) of the constitution and the PFM act 2012.

Already there are fears that some individuals are lining up to embezzle the funds through the NMS.

Yesterday, the Governor hinted that there are plans to buy booths at at an exgerrated price.
