Top 3 Women MPs Named in New Performance Poll — Nyamira, Isiolo, and Turkana Lead the Way

Date:

A new national poll has ranked three women legislators as the best-performing MPs in Kenya.

The poll, released by Global Ranking Analysis, shows that Nyamira, Isiolo, and Turkana counties are home to the most effective women representatives in the country.

The evaluation covered 47 counties and ran from August 2024 to March 2025.

It was based on:

  • Voter satisfaction

  • Parliamentary activity

  • Public participation forums

  • Media presence

  • Transparency and financial discipline

Here’s the Top 3 List:

  • Jerusha Mong’ina Momanyi – Nyamira County – 70.4%

  • Mumina Bonaya – Isiolo County – 68.5%

  • Ngitit Cecilia Asinyen – Turkana County – 66.7%

These three women stood out for consistently engaging their constituents, tabling motions in parliament, and initiating development projects that directly impact local communities.

They didn’t rely on PR stunts or photo-ops. Their scores reflect real work — and real impact.

Bottom of the List:

At the other end, the worst-performing woman rep is Beatrice Kemei of Kericho County, who scored just 18.8%. Others in the bottom five include:

  • Rehema Hassan (Tana River – 22.1%)

  • Phylis Bartoo (Moiben – 24.5%)

  • Leah Sankaire (Kajiado – 25.0%)

  • Caroline Ngelechei (Elgeyo Marakwet – 25.3%)

These scores reflect low public engagement, poor legislative track records, and minimal transparency.

️ What This Means

Kenya is changing. Voters are no longer clapping for empty speeches and campaign slogans.

Performance now matters.

This report is a wake-up call to all elected leaders — especially those who think occupying a seat is enough.

Why It Matters for Women Leaders

The top three performers are all women — and all from counties that face serious development challenges.

That alone is proof that women leaders can deliver just as much — if not more — than their male counterparts when given the mandate and resources.

The next time you go to the ballot, ask yourself:

Is my MP doing enough? Or are we clapping for shadows?
