The 2025 Kipchumba Karori Eldoret International Volleyball Tournament has opened with major support after SportyBet Kenya was announced as the title sponsor. The company has committed KSh 4 million to the championship, signaling a strong investment in the growth of volleyball in the region.
The tournament will run from December 19 to 21, 2025, at the Eldoret National Polytechnic. It brings together teams from Kenya, Uganda and Sudan, with participants drawn from Senior Elite clubs, self supporting teams, universities, colleges, high schools and primary schools. This wide range of competitors reflects the growing popularity and inclusive nature of the event.
The 2025 edition has attracted a record 64 teams from the self supporting and Mashinani categories. Organizers say this milestone confirms the strength of the community pipeline that continues to shape the future of national volleyball.
Tournament Coordinator Paul Bitok noted that past editions have produced several players who later joined the professional ranks. He expects this year’s competition to draw increased scouting interest from grassroots programs, universities and school teams.
The self supporting category remains a major highlight, featuring 36 men’s teams from counties such as Kericho, Kakamega, Nandi, Kilifi, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Gishu. On the women’s side, Kipkenyo, Starlet Nandi, Kipkaren Queens, Busia Divas and Sinyereri will challenge themselves against more experienced opponents.
Bitok emphasized that the organizing team is committed to offering quality facilities, effective scheduling and strong safety measures as early pool matches set the stage for the knockout rounds.
