Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has mourned Communications Officer in the Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa’s office, Electine Mukadi who died on Sunday afternoon at the Nairobi hospital aged 33 years.
Ojaamong described Electine as an energetic, jovial, an extremely pleasant, honest, direct and forthright person who discharged her duties diligently.
“It is with utter shock and deep sorrow that I have learnt of the sudden death of Electine Mukadi. Her death is not only a big blow to the Wangalwa’s family but also to the people of Busia which she served with commitment and dedication.”
The Governor added: “In this trying moment, I convey my sincere condolences to Your Excellency the Deputy Governor, friends and relatives of the late Electine. May the Almighty God grant you courage to overcome this loss.”
Busia First Lady Judy Ojaamong said the death of her dear friend Electine came two hours after she sent a passionate plea to good Samaritans to donate blood and save her life.
” It is painful to lose a dear one at such tender age, adding that it is a big blow to the Deputy Governor’s family as they come to terms with the tragic news,” she said.
Busia women representative Florence Mutua said: ” Extremely, extremely sad news. We pray for God to give the family strength at this very trying and difficult moment.”
Electine’s husband Paul Barasa said: “Imagine smiling machine has left us. She was a natural warmth. A friend worth the title and an aggressive dealer who pursued her dreams with zeal and focus,” he said.
The last communication from Electine was on August 1st on her timeline when she wrote: Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for me.”
Her sudden death has shocked her colleagues and friends who expressed shock how the cruel hand of death could rob them of a person who could not even hurt a fly.
According to blogger Denis Itumbi on his timeline, Electine left Busia for Nairobi on August 1st for a checkup at the Nairobi Nairobi. She was expecting triplets and having felt a little pain she decided to seek medical advice
At Nairobi Hospital, she was advised to accept admission so that a scan would be done and appropriate direction given.
On the night of August 2nd, the scan was done and it was found that there was a problem. I will not go to the details, but she was immediately placed on medication.
Then things started going wrong. Family and friends were asked to donate 10 pints of blood everyday and there was overwhelming response daily.
Her organs started failing and she was put on life support at the ICU. On Sunday, blood targets were reached early and God decided to pick His daughter to join Him in eternity.
Meanwhile, hospital bill at Nairobi hospital stands at 1.5million, well wishers have been asked to donate to this number (Refer to Dennis Itumbi’s wall) The Paybill number is 891300 and the account number is 7720.
