As senator Kipchumba Murkomen was busy entertaining Jubilee Party delegates in Nairobi who had been felled from the villages and given expensive allowances to attend the Launch, a form four student in his village in Elgeyo Marakwet county committed suicide after he was sent away from school to collect a fee balance.
Neighbours said the 17-year old arrived from Sambirir Boys’ Secondary School on Friday.
He was found dead at his parents’ house in Kapchesek village on Monday morning.
Area police boss Emmanuel Rono said the boy may have taken poison on Sunday night. He said a bottle of a poisonous chemical was found beside his body.
“We suspect he took his life due to school fees problems. We ask parents to counsel their children when they face problems,” said Rono,
He said investigations were launched and several people questioned.
The body was taken to Chesongoch Mission Hospital mortuary.
One can only wish the parents of the deceased will have courage and God shall provide them with strength to overcome their misfortune. A county has a lost a future leader.
