BREAKING: Ezra Chiloba LOSES Round One, Court DECLINES to Stop Chebukati from SACKING or Disclipening 8 IEBC Officials implicated in Rigging Out Raila

Date:

Labour Court has declines to issue order sought by IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officers who were suspended by commission chairman Wafula Chebukati. The matter was however certified as urgent and will be heard on September 20.

Chiloba moved to court today morning seeking orders to stop the commissions bosses from taking any form of disciplinary action against him and his clique of 7 other directors who were implicated in masssive rigging in the August 8th polls.

Chiloba was with Immaculate Kassait, James Muhati, Betty Nyabuto, Praxides Tororey and Moses Kipkogey.

Chloba and the others want the court to issue orders restraining IEBC from commencing any disciplinary action, suspending or interfering with their employment.

The lot were sidelined in changes made at the secretariat ahead of the October 17 election which was staged following the Supreme Court’s cancellation of the presidential election held on August 8.

Chairman Wafula Chebukati made the changes when he constituted a new team to oversee the repeat election.

Meanwhile Chairman Chebukati has written to the commission CEO Ezra Chiloba demanding tough answers on what went wrong with the August 8 presidential election.

A leaked memo from the chair demanded a raft of explanations including why the chair’s password was allegedly used to access the results transmission system. Chebukati also wants to know why the satellite phones bought by the commission were not used to relay data from polling stations as it was supposed to be.

Chebukati’s memo which is dated September 5, details numerous failures by the secretariat that formed a key part of the Supreme Court proceedings. The chair also wants an explanation why the Kenya Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) kits used in the election were not locked to specific locations as it had been agreed.

The IEBC Chair also raised questions why some forms used in the election did not have security features as agreed between IEBC and the printer.

The memo comes in the wake of sharp divisions in the commission following Chebukati move to sideline key people in the secretariat in a new election project team.
