LAWYER Ahmednassir tried to CON me 25million on Tunoi Bribery claim, I will Sue for DEFAMATION – Governor Kidero

Date:

Evans Kidero has said he will sue Ahmednassir Abdullahi for defamation following the lawyers twist into the bribery allegations against Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi.

Tunoi allegedly received Sh200 million to deliver a favourable judgement in the election petition by Ferdinand Waititu, now Kabete MP, against the Nairobi Governor in August 2014.

Abdullahi said via twitter on Saturday evening that the sum involved was Sh300 million . He further claimed that Sh200 million was for four judges and that two were paid separately.

Kidero, who is Nairobi Governor, claimed the lawyer wanted to extort him of Sh25 million after he turned down his representation following Waititu’s petition.

He told a special committee of the Judicial Service Commission on Tuesday that the lawyer, “unhappy” with his decision, went on to represent Waititu.

The Governor reiterated that he has never met journalist Geoffrey Kiplagat who raised a complaint on the alleged bribery in a sworn affidavit.

Lawyer Katwa Kigen denied ever communicating with the journalist saying “I have his phone number and he has mine but we have never talked”.

Abdullahi was not immediately available for comment.

On Monday, new evidence emerged that judge Tunoi recently acquired 180 acres of land , said to be in Uasin Gishu county, and two tractors.

It also emerged that Kiplagat, was promised Sh30 million but was never paid his share. Once the money was paid, virtually all the people involved became hostile to him.

The committee, chaired by Margaret Kobia, took evidence from Justice Tunoi and his accuser journalist Kiplagat.
