Cyrus Jirongo has said he is ready to prove in court that DP William Ruto is linked to the killing of businessman Jacob Juma.
The former Lugari MP dared Ruto to sue him for remarks issued during a memorial service at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.
He spoke during a burial ceremony at Mung’ore village in Bungoma on Saturday.
Jirongo said on Thursday: “You cannot ask killers to investigate themselves. Juma slapped Ruto a while back. That is where the problem started and investigations should start there.”
“Those who strangled ICC defence witness Meshack Yebei also assassinated Juma. We can only end this by kicking out the Jubilee government.”
Several other leaders criticised the police investigation into what they called a political assassination.
Ruto’s legal adviser said they were reviewing Jirongo’s comments before taking legal action against those “that perpetuate the dissemination, publication or circulation of this narrative.
Korir Sing’oei said Ruto never had any physical contact with Juma therefore the allegation of a slap could never have arisen.
