Joho aides now targeted in blood-thirsty Jubilee purge
Several aides close to ODM Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho have in recent weeks experienced harrowing brushes with death leading senior opposition figures to conclude that Jubilee is now getting desperate and may start an elimination spree as a way of helping it win the forth coming general election.
Faced with an uncertain general election and disenchanted populace, the government of President Uhuru Kenyatta is seen as growing increasingly intolerant and targeting to violently suppress voices within the opposition.
One of the regime’s favourite target is the charismatic Governor who is seen as the voice of reason among marginalised Muslims and the defacto spokesman of millions of disenfranchised youth in Kenya. Jubilee have created a highly sophisticated state terror apparatus that have set their sights on the Mombasa Governor and his close aides.
Although Joho has been permanently at loggerheads with Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa who led the onslaught against Joho with a fake war on hard drugs before purportedly ordering the withdrawal of official security assigned to the governor, eyebrows are now being raised about possible elimination of the governor’s formal and informal confidants as a way of weakening him ahead of the 2017 general elections. Only this week, the Kenya Revenue Authority has written to a local bank seeking to be furnished with statements of one of Governor Joho’s bank accounts.
Before Marwa, Joho had been permanently kept busy in the corridors of justice by a baseless case challenging the validity of his undergraduate degree. He won the case but the political pressure has been kept high on him going to the extent of having county government bank accounts frozen thus rendering management of the county government untenable.
Today, Joho is seen as a permanent thorn in Jubilee’s backside in the coast and has on numerous occasions been publicly rebuked by the president who vowed to deal with Joho once and for all. Recently, reports emerged in Mombasa that Mr. Idris Abdirahman, the Director of Political Affairs at Office of the Governor Mombasa County was being hunted by CID for questioning. Abdirahman is seen as one of the strongest political advisors within Governor Joho inner circle.
Another closer aide of Joho was last week admitted into ICU of a Nairobi hospital, unconscious and gravely ill after he reportedly ingested an unknown toxic substance after sharing refreshments during a 15-minute meeting with a ‘system hatchet man’ who is suspected of having been tasked with eliminating him. Quick action by hospital doctors is said to have saved the man’s life who is presently recuperating at home. He appeared to have suffered severe effects similar to those experienced by CORD leader Raila Odinga a few weeks ago.
Another unnamed civilian who is known to be a senior member of Joho’s think-tank escaped a violent carjacking attempt in Nairobi a few weeks ago and lived to tell the tale. His car was extensively damaged as he sort to escape from would-be carjackers who had been trailing all day in an unmarked vehicle.
Political observers opine that there is no doubt that the continued government attempts to undermine and destroy Joho is linked to near death incidences by his close aides.
Sources close to Kenya Today disclosed that the system is deeply concerned by the resurgent opposition of which Governor Joho is a key player and elements within Jubilee have reportedly formed a political junta with terrifying plans to ‘win the elections at all costs’ and if necessary ‘eliminate all opponents’. Those close to Jubilee state house say the informal junta is made up of senior state functionaries and are motivated by the ever present threat of President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto may see their war crimes cases with ICC revived once they leave power.
Public opinion polling project an increasingly unpopular regime which has reportedly decreed ‘they will never give up power’ even as they stare at the potential of international disgrace and a hitherto unthinkable defeat in the highly anticipated polls in August.
