“We are witnessing a repeat of 2002 when all MPs from Wajir at the time defected to KANU except my brother the late Labour minister Hon. Ahmed Khalif. They did so hoping to achieve development by joining the ruling party,” Raila told Wajir residents a hearty laugh.
NASA supreme leader Raila Odinga yesterday said the ODM MPs who recently crossed to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Alliance committed political suicide.
In a veiled reference to Eldas MP Hon. Adan Keynan and his Tarbaj counterpart Hon. Mohammed Elmi, Raila, in comments full of satire and irony, lashed out at the two legislators for joining a sinking ship.
“We are witnessing a repeat of 2002 when all MPs from Wajir at the time defected to KANU except my brother the late Labour minister Hon. Ahmed Khalif. They did so hoping to achieve development by joining the ruling party,” he said with a hearty laugh.
The veteran opposition leader revealed how heart-breaking it was for those legislators when it finally dawned on them that they had joined a sinking ship.
“To their bewilderment, KANU went down with them as opposition came out victorious and former President Mwai Kibaki was sworn in as Kenya’s 3rd President. Keynan and Elmi are repeating the same mistake, “the ODM party leader quipped.
In his usual typical best, Hon Odinga used African riddle to prophesise the ruling Alliance’s political demise, come August the 8th.Mocking the two legislators and nominated senator Halima Abdille, Raila said the MPs have become like a tick.
“When a cow is being slaughtered, the tick never realises that the host will soon be no more. NASA already has a rope around Jubilee’s neck and very soon Jubilee will be dead. That will equally mark the tick’s sudden death,” he said sending the crowd into rapturous laughter.
All the four NASA luminaries at the rally held at Wajir Stadium urged residents to vote for opposition candidates because President Uhuru’s Jubilee Alliance has no agenda for Kenyans.
