PRESS STATEMENT BY BOBASI ELDERS
26th July 2016
At Sameta Lodge.
Members of the 4th estate ladies and gentlemen, we have gathered here as proud sons and daughters of Omobasi, to clear the air over the ongoing heated political temperatures led by Sen Chris Obure.
In 2013, leaders from the 6 Kisii clans signed an MoU which formed the County Government. The MoU saw Ongwae and Obure lead the County Government’s top most leadership. They were accorded the rare opportunity of leading our people to prosperity.
We consciously penned down our signatures to the MoU, that was to last for 10 years. Obure was to represent Ababasi and chair the team not himself as Christopher Obure. Immediately after he was sworn in as Senator he steadily and slowly walked away , we mercilessly watched him from a distance as he relocated his relatives and friends from Nairobi to give them County Jobs.
He deserted us after handing him the golden shield. We had sons and daughters who were qualified to work in the County. Poor orphans were in the list. Obure was by and large unreachable. Bobasi was grossly disadvantaged because our people never got their rightful share, because everything that was essentially meant for Omobasi was diverted to Obure’s relatives and friends.
It’s even horrific that he has gone ahead formed another merry-go-round by the name ”Obomo Bw’Omogusii” after secretly divorcing our amorphous group formed consultative across the 6 clans, founded on the pillars of unity and development to a selfish outfit with a selfish agenda and ego driven greedy families without engaging any key stakeholder, In the name of ”Omogusii Unity”.
Before Obure takes Omogusii to his merry-go-round groupings he must clear the air on the following:
1) Did Nyamira cease to be part of Gusii after devolution
2) What happened with his line-up with Ongwae
3) Stakeholders consulted before putting up the new team
4) Sponsors
5) The exact intentions of the groupings.
6) Fred Matiangi’s role in the group.
7) His deliverables as an Elected Senator.
We conclude our remarks as follows:
As Ababasi we neither subscribe to the so called ”Obomo Bw’Omogusii group led by chris Obure nor do we understand it’s agenda.
The post of Senator was preserved for Ababasi and not Chris Obure when time comes we shall unveil our own candidate to take over from Obure to complete the remaining 5 years to make it 10.
Obure is championing a selfish agenda and that he doesn’t represent our agenda.
We finally wish Obure well in his endeavours and that we’re confined in the 2013 agreement which expires in 2022.
