A rogue Nairobi based chief has been released from custody without facing charges despite attacking police officers who were supervising demolition of illegal structures in Muthurwa area.

The chief who had been detained at Central Police station (OB 30 of 13/4/2018) was released from custody unconditionally after an alleged call from a senior government official who is believed to be Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.

The chief identified as Kanyiri, is reported to have mobilized a gang of youths to attack police officers who were supervising the demolition of illegal structures at Muthurwa area two weeks ago. The demolition exercise was part of an exercise aimed at decongesting Nairobi.

The chief is alleged to have been part of a cartel in the provincial administration that’s taking orders from PS Kibicho to sabotage Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s plan to implement the regeneration of Nairobi programme.
