We support the handshake but lets not destroy the earlier one: Gov.Mandago

Date:

Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that was occasioned by the March 9th handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

In a video shared on Facebook of Mandago speaking in an event in Samburu, he said even as the nation focuses on building new bridges, existing ones should not be destroyed.

According to the county boss who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, the initiative should add more value to the nation’s unity.

“If as Kenyans we truly agreed to unite, then we should work together. How comes a leader goes to a place to proclaim he was sent by somebody to oppose somebody and we claim there is a handshake?” Mandago asked in apparent reference to recent Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s remarks.

Mandago further cautioned politicians against roaming around the country while cheating Kenyans and attacking other leaders in an attempt to tarnish their image.

Joho while in Vihiga about a fortnght ago claimed that Raila, his party leader, had sent him to fight DP Ruto, sentiments that have sparked political confrontations.
