I was never treated fairly, former DCJ Nancy Baraza recounts on why she was dismissed

Date:

Former Deputy Chief Justice Nancy Baraza has finally broken silence on the incident that saw her fired in 2012.
While appearing during an exclusive interview on KTN News’ Point Blank last night, Baraza said she has no regrets despite having been dismissed from the second highest rank in the Judiciary following an altercation with a lady at the Village Market in Nairobi.

Baraza, who is currently a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi, insisted that she was a victim of circumstances. She claimed that her colleagues took advantage of the incident to see her sent packing.

She insisted that she deserved better treatment than what she received at the end of the day after differing with one Rebecca Kerubo. Baraza allegedly pinched Kemunto for failing to ‘recognize’ her.

She also revealed that she had apologized to the woman following the standoff. Baraza also said that she had moved on following the loss of her job and she had nothing bitter after the incident that saw her dismissed.

“What happened was unfortunate. But I think it attracted other malevolent forces from outside. I think other forces joined the war and that is why I say I was not treated fairly,” she said.

She faulted one Judge of the Court of Appeal, whose name she didn’t mention, for fueling her woes. She claimed the Judge spent a lot of time sending propaganda to media houses before she was sacked from the position.
