President Uhuru Kenyatta is flexing his muscles. He is showing that it is ‘his’ government. And he is the final man.
Kiambu County was rehearsal of what to come. He is also justifying that he can drink and drive.
Uhuru is halfway done with his Deputy and one time ‘brother’ William Samoei Ruto whom they had a blossom relationship that led to a political unity that earned them the title in 2013; thanks to Moreno Ocampo then the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
It was historic.
Many people in Rift Valley (read Kalenjin) didn’t trust the political relationship because of the deep mistrust between the two communities that had been characterised by tribal clashes majorly land related. But Ruto put up a spirited fight and assured the kalenjin nation that all was well. He used ask them: “Tos ngoker ole karusa kurget? (I know what I am doing).
Kikuyus and their sworn political nemesis, the Kalenjins, had voted in a similar pattern in 2013/17. It almost happened in 2002 when Uhuru was abandoned by the Mountain because he had been fronted by Retired President Daniel Arap Moi.
Come 2017, Uhuru and Ruto are running on a Jubilee Party ticket after the duo and several others folded the their parties. URP (I was a founding member) had to die. TNA too.
The move was a calculation of William Ruto. Despite several people showing resistance in URP, William was determined. He had his own reasons. I will share someday. (For starters, I headed William Ruto’s media when he was a presidential candidate).
It was all systems go in 2017 for the two until CJ Maraga stopped the party when he declared the elections null.
The country was again in a campaign frenzy as UhuRuto began a second series of rallies that saw the President endorse his Deputy as his successor in 2022.
With the two assured of another five year term, anyway they were only competing with the IEBC kits and Aukot since Raila had refused to participate in the election. That is when things started going South between the two. Some close allies of the DP were excited. They forgot Uhuru was the president.
Soon they started bragging that while Uhuru was busy with whisky, we (Kales) would be the ones leading the country. It was repeated in almost every rally. The guys spoke in their mother tongue but the President got it anyway. He was incensed. Coupled with the famous infamous Kiambu Mafia, breaks had to be applied to stop Ruto and his troops.
Uhuru immediately embarked on a plan. He had to fix things. He had to fix Ruto and his men. Word on the corridors is that Ruto and his men were given a leeway to steal as Uhuru fixed the system by appointing his tribesmen and other highly trusted surrogates to head key institutions) and then handshake happened. Uhuru stopped fighting Raila Odinga who had sworn himself as people’s president. He had to handle DP Ruto. This was a new war front. He needed to reduce enemies in order to focus so as to completely neutralize Ruto.
Uhuru started off by testing waters via Mau as evictions and it confirmed POSITIVE, there was zero resistance then moved into another level, disarmament of the pastoralist who all went quiet giving him a through pass paving way for the sacking of Ruto’s henchmen in parastatals like Kenya Power, Kenya Pipeline and then shut down Kimwarer and Arror Water Projects scandal that confirmed to Kenyans that Ruto was extremely corrupt and stupid enough to steal from his own people!
All these events provided a perfect setting for a vicious fight. (Remember the system had allowed the guys to steal). One time Uhuru ally Henry Rotich found himself out so was PS and several others who were collateral damage.
Soon governor Waitutu was on the chopping board and now up next is Sonko !. It is all well planned and meticulous execution is ongoing. Governor Waititu is done and dusted.
Sonko is still battling. He may not survive either.
Now what next?
William Ruto will remain isolated. He has been kept away from all government functions. That’s why he has resorted to launching CDF projects.
The President and Raila will continue launching national projects.
The system is determined to pull it further.
All those who were seen sympathetic to William have been pushed away. Those in NIS, Police,Army,IEBC have all been pushed away.
Soon it is coming to the Senate and National Assembly.
Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen will be voted out.His position will likely be taken over by Uasin Gishu Senator Margaret Kamar. This will neutralise any possible rebellion. Kamar is generally acceptable both in am and outside political circle.
Kimani Ichungwa who chairs Budget Committee will be replaced by Amos Kimunya.
Ben Washiali will lose his position as Chief Whip to Emmanuel Wangwe.
Cecil Mbarire will be replaced by Sabina Chege as Deputy Chief Whip.Others who will possibly be replaced include Susan Kihika, Samson Cherargei and John Kinyua.
Aden Duale could survive. The Speaker to the Senate Kenneth Lusaka could also face the chop…here Kalonzo Musyoka would be a beneficiary
