IEBC MUST BE REFORMED Before 2017 Otherwise ANARCHY AWAITS US – Jacob Juma WARNS

To deepen democracy, elections cannot just be lip service that undemocratic leaders pay to their people. CORD MPs, Senators and MCAs have let down Kenyans by keeping quiet about the inefficiency of IEBC since they were elected through the same fraud.

Since BVR kits broke down in March, 2013, what solution has IEBC put in place to rectify the error so that we don’t witness a similar circus in 2017? Why is CORD silent about these problems? Jubilee being an association of thugs with bloated egos, to deflate it, CORD must go back to the drawing board and plan a new strategy to deal with them.

From the experience of yesterday’s by-elections in Malindi and Kericho, IEBC MUST be disbanded forthwith and Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) changed. IEBC MUST introduce Voter- Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT). This will prevent electoral fraud.

IEBC as an autonomous constitutional authority responsible for administering free and fair elections has abdicated its role and appears as an extension of Jubilee’s governing body. CORD should ensure that EVMs be equipped with VVPAT.

17 months to the next elections and it is better that these pertinent issues be addressed early and fixed to avoid electoral fraud.
Hon Raila is arriving back from Israel on Thursday and IEBC is going to be top on his agenda.
