DOWN TO BUSINESS: Sonko to Hire Youth to Remove Campaign Posters from the City

Date:

Nairobi Governor elect Mike Sonko has pledged to contract over 1,000 youth, including members of the Sonko Rescue Team to clean Nairobi City.

Speaking after meeting different sets of stakeholders today, Sonko said that the youth will be tasked with removing posters of politicians in the Central Business District since the poll period is over

“The youth will give the city a fresh coat of paint, I promised to make Nairobi clean during my campaigns and this is my agenda before we form the county’s next government,” he said

The former senator also said he is buoyed by Nairobi residents’ decision to disregard calls by National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to boycott work today, Monday, August 14.

“Raila has no authority to declare any day a holiday, we therefore, ask Kenyans to ignore the calls and continue with their daily activities.” Sonko said.

He stressed on the need to move on after the elections saying that Kenyans will be provided with enough security.

Sonko called on Nairobi residents to stay calm as they report back to work and reject any calls for demonstrations by politicians
