Big win for Raila as Court allows BBI to roll to counties, orders IEBC to wait for a signal

The 5 Judge Bench in its Ruling delivered today 8th February, 2021 has partially allowed an order as follows

a) a Temporary Conservatory Order preventing the IEBC from taking any further action towards conducting a Referendum on the BBI Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

b) The County Assemblies and Parliament are however to continue with their deliberations and passage of the Bills pursuant to Article 257 (5) of the Constitution.

c) The County Assemblies and Parliament to continue with deliberations, and public engagements and participation of the BBI Bill.

d) The IEBC will commence any such preparations for a referendum once the BBI Petitions are heard and determined.
