The life of IEBC Chairman stone faced Wafula Chebukati is in danger after government withdrew all armed security assigned to him and those of other two commissioners.
The move comes a day after three commissioners allied to DP Ruto resigned. Senate majority leader who is also DP Ruto’s handman the hawkish Kipchumba Murkonmen demanded that Chebukati resign immediately so that parliament cna have an opportunity to appoint new commissioners. There were rumours that the three commissioners were pushed to resign by DP Ruto in a bid to derail the calls for a referendum that is expected to water down powers of the presidency.
