WE SHALL IMPEACH YOU, RAILA WARNS UHURU
ODM Leader Raila Odinga has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta of impeachment if he continues to misuse power in the name of punishing people he does not like.
Mr. Odinga says, it is against the law for the head of state to harass people in the name of disciplining them for differing with their ideology. “What the president is doing on the Governor of Mombasa (Mr. Hassan Joho) is dictatorial and illegal” said Mr. Odinga adding that if he continues with abuse of office “we shall impeach him”.
Addressing hundreds of members of the popular Bunge la Mwananchi caucus at Orange House Nairobi, Mr. Odinga said it was unfortunate that President Kenyatta was following in the footsteps of his father in the wrong era. “During Mzee Kenyatta’s regime, he could brag of how he could crash anyone like flour” adding that “the era of intimidating opponents and chest thumping because of power are long gone”.
Mr. Odinga said Kenya was in dire need for change owing to the continued mismanagement of affairs by the Jubilee administration. “The cost of living has gone high, Kenyans can nolonger afford basic commodities, we can’t continue this way”, charged the NASA Leader.
Mr. Odinga told Jubilee government to stop being scared of the NASA talk of a parallel tallying centre aimed at curbing the rigging of election. He said media houses should not be gagged during the general election and that they should be encouraged to do live streaming of results to ensure accuracy.
“In America, you all see how the media relay real time election results on Television; that should be the case here in Kenya”. He said that Jubilee are afraid of the election defeat and that is why they have resorted to gagging the media. “The media shall transmit live the election results. That is something we are not about to comprise about” said Mr. Odinga to the cheering audience.
Mr. Odinga called on Kenyans to be vigilant during the Election Day and protect the vote. “You must wake up very early in the morning to vote. Then stand firm and guard the vote” he said.
Deputy Party Leader Mr. Wycliffe Oparanya told Kenyans to resist any efforts by Jubilee to cling on to power. He said time has come for Kenyans to stand up and say no to bad leadership. “You must show your might. You have the vote. Get out and vote to send Jubilee administration home.
