Uhuru has lost his temper threatening striking doctors with serious conscequences not withstanding provisions of the labour laws and the 2010 constitution. The four quotes extracted from the president’s speech amount to threats or duress to the striking doctors.
Reading them through one gets a feeling that the threat is beyond being thrown to jail, may be bodly harm or being made to disappear.
Dennis Itumbi reports and quotes President Uhuru thus:>>
President Uhuru Kenyatta:
1. “I can assure you, if the ongoing talks spearheaded by the religious leaders fail, we will take action. We will sort you out. This is blackmail. ”
2. “We will not succumb to threats and intimidation. Kwani hawa madaktari wanafikiria sisi ni wajinga aje?
3. ” You only work for two hours in government facilities and then run to your private clinics! “
4. “We have offered you better salaries than those in private hospitals. Medical interns in govt hospitals will earn more than what doctors at Aga Khan, Nairobi, Mater hospitals earn…”
