Roselyne Akombe, the vocal IEBC Commissioner was arrested under unclear circumstances before she boarded a plane to New York USA from JKIA.
A close family confidant relayed her alleged arrest to the media shortly after she was dropped at the airport.
She is currently being detained at the JKIA Police Station over unclear allegations or charges, and the police are yet to say why she was detained.
The commission has not yet denied or confirmed the arrest of Akombe that was first published on KDR tv website.
Many within the commission allegdly view her more as NASA sympathiser.
Her flight was scheduled to depart at 10.00 P.M local time.
Ms Akombe is the most outspoken, highly educated of the Chebukati led IEBC, she holds a PhD in global affairs from New York university. She did her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA.
Akombe 39 is from Gusii land. She was tagged to be the commission vice chair but powers that be preffered Ms Nkatha Bucha-Maina.
Before joining IEBC, Akombe was a top UN official in New York. She is the voice of reason, no nonsense and impatial at the commission.

LATEST UPDATE on the alleged arrest and detention of IEBC commissioner Akombe:
IEBC commissioner Roseline Akombe is being held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after State officers pulled her out of the plane and barred her from leaving for the US last night.
It took the intervention of the US Embassy for Akombe to be released from police custody and be transferred to government pavilion at JKIA.
Jubilee seemed concerned that she might speak out on the elections once she leaves the country.
But Akombe has US and Kenya citizenship, which forced the embassy to intervene.
Joseph Kinyua, the Chief of Staff at State House promised the embassy Akombe will be allowed to travel later today.
