Budalangi MP hon Rafael Wanjala has been arrested by CID officers at a Kisumu hotel after his supporters stoned and chased former area MP Ababu Namwamba.
Hon Wanjala is alleged to have attacked foreign affairs chief administrative secretary Hon Ababu Namwamba and officials from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) and the Kenya National Highways authority (KENHA) at Thigiri Bridge, Budalangi on April 13.
It’s alleged that the MP threw stones at the aircraft they were traveling in when he found out that he was not invited to attend the inspection and official opening of Sigiri Bridge.
He has been booked at Kisumu Central Police Station and is currently being transferred to Kakamega.
Sigiri bridge collapsed last year hours after it was launched by President Uhuru. It was said to have costed 1.2Billion and is suspected that the cost was highly inflated, Ababu is accused to have pocked kick backs from the contractor. It is alleged that the kick backs were part of the price that saw Ababu ditch ODM for Jubilee.
