The Jubilee party has will back Beatrice Elachi in her bid to retain her position as Speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly.
The announcement came after a consultative party meeting led by Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Wednesday.
Members of County Assembly (MCA) allied to Jubilee party are expected to escalate the push.
Last week, Elachi made a forceful return to her office accompanied by 20 MCAs from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
It resulted in chaos and confusion as the ODM and Jubilee factions clashed over the comeback.

A defiant Elachi sat in her office and warned that she would move “all the way up to the Supreme Court if necessary.”
She had been impeached by the assembly in September 2018 only to be reinstated by a court order, to the displeasure of the assembly.
