Police have found the bodies of a Kenyan man and his wife in their house in New Jersey in suspected murder suicide.
Friends and neighbors gathered outside a Country Village home Monday afternoon searching for answers on an apparent murder suicide that left the married couple dead and three children without parents.
Authorities say Henry Okongo and Lydiah Okongo were found inside the home on 2 Mina Drive suffering from gunshot wounds. The two, who were identified by neighbors, were found in separate areas of the home and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office remained at the scene until after 1 p.m.
Neighbors, who asked not to be identified, said Lydiah Okongo worked as a nurse and Henry Okongo owned a few laundromats.
Public records show Henry Okongo owned a business on Martin Luther King Drive. Hundreds of residents rallied around Henry Okongo to help him save his business in 2013 when his lease was up and he was behind in rent.
Henry Okongo is listed as the owner of both 2 Mina Drive – a corner house – and 120 Sycamore Road, which stands just behind the other home on the opposite corner. Homicide detectives could be seen sifting through the mail boxes at the Sycamore Road home.

The incident happened on March 5th, 2018.
A family member discovered the bodies and the couple’s children, a 2-month-old and a 5-year-old, were inside the home.
Neighbors gathering around the home – which is at the corner of Sycamore Road – described the man and woman as “lovely people” who kept their home well maintained.
One woman, who asked not to be identified, was nervous as she walked through the neighborhood late Monday morning.
“Oh my god, that’s scary,” she said as police officers walked out of the home.
The Regional Medical Examiner arrived at the scene just before noon.
