NYAMIRA GOVERNOR NYAGARAMA WANTS STATE BURIAL FOR KENNETH MATIBA
GOVERNOR JOHN NYAGARAMA CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON DEATH OF KENYAN HERO KENNETH MATIBA
I am deeply saddened by the passing of second liberation hero Kenneth Stanley Njindo Matiba, a champion who helped re-write the history of this country.
Through the risks that he took when only a few dared, he alongside others put the country on the path to multi-party democracy.
In his death, a mugumo tree has fallen. We have lost a multi-party democracy icon, a nationalist, and a patriot who loved this country tremendously.
I offer my condolences to his family, the people of Kiharu Constituency, Murang’a County and the country at large.
To his widow Edith and her children including Ivy and Raymond, have courage in this tragic moment.
His death is yet another chance for our nation to re-evaluate how we celebrate our heroes.
It’s my hope that in his death, his family will speedily receive the compensation awarded by the courts, that our national flag will fly half-mast and that he will be accorded a state burial.
Let us use his death, to foster more dialogue as a nation.
His Excellency John Nyagarama,
Governor, Nyamira County.
