Dagoretti MP-elect Simba Arati will on Friday lead NASA leaders in a peaceful protest outside the Supreme Court.
The protest is tagged ‘We want the truth’, following the Opposition’s claims of rigging and interference with the KIEMS during the August 8 vote.
Raila Odinga and other Opposition leaders moved to the court to challenge the presidential election result that declared Uhuru Kenyatta winner.
Demonstrations followed in Nairobi, Kisumu and Homa Bay and there is now talk of secession following Scholar Prof David Ndii’s declaration that the opposition is ready for mass action if the Supreme Court is compromised
IEBC and its chair Wafula Chebukati are respondents in the matter. The commission declared Uhuru winner with 54 per cent with numbers that even the commission itself doesnt seem to understand the source.
But in their 25,000-page petition, National Super Alliance chiefs claim the electoral agency manipulated votes in the President’s favour.
The Supreme Court decision must be delivered on September 1.
The petition will be heard by Chief Justice David Maraga, judges Mohamed Ibrahim, Prof Jackton Ojwang’, Dr Smokin Wanjala and Lady Justice Njoki Ndung’u.
Apart from Maraga, the other judges arbitrated the 2013 petition and will now be joined by deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, and Justice Isaac Lenaola.
