“It’s Never and Should Not Be About Raila Odinga” – Hon Jakakimba

Date:

My TAKE:

Fellow countrymen and women, I want to remind you all, without any fear of contradiction, that Raila Amolo Odinga already has a SECURE LEGACY in his just cause to make your country the indisputable pride of East Africa, a working and respected, bubbling Democracy amongst its peers. But that is not all – a heavy price precedent to this, was inevitable. When he will be gone, this legacy will outlive him. It is incumbent upon all of you, each of us, to be ready to play part in making this Nation a land of Better Promise for current and generations to come.

The legitimate emerging concerns after yesterday’s largely peaceful election are not about the person of Raila Odinga – NO. They are about the common values that ground our democratic enterprise and the impersonal yearn to make Kenya the epicentre of a truly working Constitutional Democracy. And to this – each of you, everyone of us, must be ready to demonstrate that willingness to stand for country.

Raila has, and continues to do his part but, one person can only do so much. We need a new generation of many more Railas to join hands with him in the onerous task of consolidating our democratic gains in the present and taking it to a bigger pedestal in the future.

We owe that to ourselves. More than that, we owe it for Posterity!

The Challenge, rests squarely within your penalty yard!

Signed.
SILAS JAKAKIMBA.
