ODM’s Wajir governor Ahmed Abdulahi demands for direct Jubilee party nomination to defecting from ODM
Governor Ahmed Abdulahi after failing to secure the crucial political backing from elders and the people of Wajir has decided to ‘eat’ the eurobond cash by defecting to Jubilee. Reliable sources confirm Governor Ahmed Abdullahi met with a top Statehouse official on Wednesday and later on Thursday met with Uhuru from whom he demanded for a direct Jubilee Party ticket.
Our snoop at the meeting reveals that the President told him the ticket has already been issued to Mohamed Abdi Mohamed because of his huge popularity but advised him to opt for one of Jubilee affiliate parties like Maendeleo Chap Chap, KANU or Party of National Unity PNU.
After failing to convince Uhuru for a direct Jubilee ticket Governor Abdullahi proceeded to Serena hotel where he continued the lobbying with Head Of Civil Service and Statehouse Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua and President Uhuru’s legal advisor Hon Abdikadir Mohammed. Governor Abdullahi pleaded with them to try and coax President Uhuru into pushing him to consider him for a direct ticket and drop current Jubilee favorite ticket holder ambasidor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud.
The meeting ended with agreeement that Uhuru will provide the Governor Abdullahi with campaign facilitation (basically money to dump ODM) and also was advised to consider a joint ticket with Jubilee’s ambasidor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud or join any Jubilee affiliate party like KANU, PNU or Maendeleo Chap Chap. Thus governor Abdullahi was expected to dump ODM for Jubilee but did not due to reasons known to a few. He is nonetheless expected to defect any time from tomorrow.
On his side, Mohammed Abdi Muhammud – the current Jubilee ticket nominee – has threatened to dump Jubilee for ODM if the governor joins Jubilee. Sources from the ground indicate that the governor has lost touch with the grassroots and has even eschewed working with the Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) Elders rejected him due to his corrupt and greedy tendencies and promised to back whoever competing against him.
