Thieves must go home, NASA chief Raila Odinga said in Nyamira county on Tuesday and asked the people to vote again with a vengeance.
The Opposition presidential candidate, who is preparing to face President Uhuru Kenyatta for the second time on October 17, asked all his supporters to show up.
“Muwe chonjo na muwe tayari kurudi kwa debe. Mara hii hakuna kura italala. Nataka mpige kura sana na tena kwa hasira. Mwizi aende nyumbani.”
This loosely translates to: “Stay alert and get ready to return to polling stations. This time round no vote will be wasted. I want you to vote enmasse and with a vengeance. Thieves must go home.”
Raila, who toured several parts of the county, maintained the IEBC team should not preside over the election.
“Hatuwezi rudi nyuma…fisi hawezi chunga mbuzi. Wale jamaa hawawezi linda kura zetu.. tukiwapa kura wataiba (We cannot move backwards…a hyena cannot guard sheep. Those people cannot guard our votes…if we allow them they will steal),” he said.
The National Super Alliance earlier wrote to the commission chaired by Wafula Chebukati stating clearly their demands for the election.
Raila, who is Opposition leader, reiterated that the trust issues his coalition raised concerning the IEBC must be addressed before voting day is set.
The coalition has rejected the date the commission announced and proposed October 24 or 31.
