Political TIME BOMB

Date:

Where are the ‘peace’ crusaders of yesteryears when you need them? Our national team just cleaned international competition’s clock and here we are framing the victory as a triumph of the tribe! Is it that bad?

As an athlete, I can confidently say that tribal affiliation has no bearing on physical fitness and player aptitude. Those Rugby players are athletes first and they play as a team. They win and lose as a team. We ought to embrace the team spirit and shun ethnic pigeonholing. The victory is for Kenya not for the tribe.

At this rate, we might as well have the tribe as a medium of exchange! We can’t just accept that a Kenyan team won the championship without slicing and dicing it as the handiwork of a few individuals clustered in certain ethnic groups.

This trend is not encouraging at all. The country appears to be irreparably divided and quite frankly, politics is morphing into a wild animal that nobody will be able to control. But who cares?
