Raila and CORD CONGRATULATE DP Ruto on the ICC Ruling – NO CASE TO ANSWER

Date:

PRESS STATEMENT ON THE ICC DECISION
The leadership of the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy welcomes the decision of the trial chamber of the International Criminal Court and in the same breath extends heartfelt congratulations to the Deputy president Hon William Samoei Kipchichir Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang on the termination of their cases. This decision no doubt heralds a great relief not just to the Deputy President and Mr. Sang but also to their respective families who have been troubled by the entire process.

As the country celebrates this decision, we wish to appeal to the Jubilee regime to initiate measures for victims’ compensation and reparations. The lasting peace that we yearn for as a country can only be achieved through delivery of justice to the PEV victims for there can be no peace without justice.

To the victims of the post-election violence, we leave you with the legendary words of Martin Luther King Jr ;
“ The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.”

We remain hopeful that in the fullness of time, justice shall be done to you for we owe it to you as a nation.
God Bless Kenya
