African High Representative for Infrastructural Development Raila Odinga on Sunday left for Bali, Indonesia where he will spent for one week.
Mr Odinga, who has spent the last four weeks within the country handling both party and official matters, is expected to address an infrastructure conference in South East Asia.
“Raila Odinga, the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development has left the country for a one week visit to Indonesia where he will address a conference on infrastructure,” said Dennis Onyango, his spokesman.
Mr Odinga will address two functions in the country, both focusing on Africa-Indonesia infrastructural development and he will be there in his capacity as African Union envoy.
For the last one year, Mr Odinga has traversed the world pushing for expansion of Africa’s infrastructure, with energy and transport being his major focus.
“The Indonesia-Africa Infrastructure Dialogue will take place in the city of Bali on the 20th and 21st August 2019. It is a follow up to the Indonesia-Africa Forum held in 2018 and aims to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Africa, with particular focus on infrastructure development and other strategic industries.
“Mr Odinga will address the opening session of the conference on 20th where he will explain the status of Africa’s infrastructure development and future plans,” he added.
In June, Mr Odinga attended a similar conference in St Petersburg in Russia, where he asked investors to consider moving to Africa for various investiment opportunities.
The former Prime Minister left amid reports that he’s contemplating a fifth stab at presidency, a claim which he has however dismissed through Mr Onyango as fallacious.
Already, Mr Odinga has issued Nation Media Group a 24-hour ultimatum to retract contents of an article published on Sunday claiming that he announced his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
