A businessman in Machakos is now fighting for his life after witnessing his mother and wife get shot dead outside his home in Katani, Machakos County.
In the Saturday, October 27, incident, the businessman was driving back to his residence at night in the company of his wife when they were attacked.
Confirming the incident, Athi River Sub-County Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi told The Standard that the thugs must have been trailing the trader for a while.
It was revealed that the two armed men shot at the mother first, who was opening the gate for the car to enter before they turned to the wife who was in the car together with her husband.
The two died on the spot while the businessman sustained serious injuries.
“The businessman was admitted to Shalom Community Hospital after sustaining gunshot injuries on his left arm and ankle,” stated Mukusi.
The officer further revealed that the thugs made away with a handbag that belonged to the wife.
The officer added that Investigations into the matter were launched immediately.
“We are pursuing crucial leads to establish the motive of the shooting and who might have been behind it,” he continued.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary.
