I didn’t like Mike Mbuvi Solo for Nairobi because, from the outset, the man is a rambunctious, excitable, bumbling fool wearing his heart on a sleeve.
But I’ve come to learn that that is exactly why he is right for this city.
The greater part of our problems need an ambitious fool of Sonko’s mold – one, who out of an inordinate and obsessive desire to be loved and applauded, goes out of his way to do heroics that one way or another cheer up the mobs.
The difference between Kidero and Sonko is the reason the latter will dwarf the former’s legacy: Kidero was a cool, collected, patient, and difficult to please czar where Sonko is a passionate, boisterous, and daring fool. The problems bedeviling Nairobi need a fool to fix.
