Tough Questions Than NEMA And Governor Sonko Cannot Answer Over Demolition of Nyayo Highrise Building

Date:

SHAME ON NEMA!

“When the construction started and they were using dynamite …we called NEMA;

When the construction began and collapsed we sent pictures to NEMA;

When they started laying gabions we sent pictures to NEMA;

When dust and all night noise in construction went on ..we complained to NEMA;

Today NEMA says they are bringing down this elegant apartment building!

Nairobi Dam stinks, especially when it rains..NEMA does nothing;

The dam is Hyacinthe-crazy, a dirty, filthy home to many undesirable creatures, including malaria-spreading mosquitoes…NEMA does nothing;

Today NEMA wants to sound surprised that Sifa Apartments is on LAP land and there’s a river flowing from ngong feeding this dam!

SHAME on you NEMA!”

Well, social commenator Ekakoro Emm had this to say:

I hear SANY is visiting this property in a fortnight. I also read that about half of the properties earmarked for demolition for being on riparian land have already been felled, which makes that about 1, 000 buildings. I don’t know about you, but I don’t get the feeling that the environment around Nairobi is now heavenly after those demolitions. What I know is that a new set of bankruptcies have been created, and Kenyans have now got a new term to refer to the female pudenda (riparian land) after Kandahar, Migingo and Kapedo became too old-fashioned. Beyond that it’s all gloom.

This particular property is said to be part of a government initiative towards low-cost housing and was apparently commissioned by a government minister. Meaning all the necessary approvals were as solid as a high-calibre bullet.

I should be the last person to protest these demolitions, but in the name of all that is good, can we also begin seeing high-level criminal and civil litigation against officials who oversee this senseless process?….

Well, I also wonder if anybody out their with proper mental functuries to put the madness to an end…
