Margaret Wamboi Ngugi is a niece to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Sen. Beth Mugo and is married to a Mr. Shava from Western Kenya.
Ms. Ngugi, is one of the five Kenyans shortlisted for the job of Chairman of the IEBC to replace Isaak Hassan. Hassan has been a system boy and together with his Commissioners and some directors in the Secretariat have been dancing to the tune of government.

Ms. Ngugi aka Shava is the most prominent name behind the doctoring of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission’s report that was rejected by all foreign commissioners in the Commission.

As a Commissioner, and with close ties with the Kenyatta’s by virtue of being a relative, Ms. Ngugi was instrumental in forcing the expunging of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s name from the report. Infact, in one of the meetings organized by victims and survivors of torture and historical injustices at Sportsview Hotel in Kasarani last year, Ms. Ngugi admitted publicly that they agreed to alter the clause that had pointed at Jomo Kenyatta as the CHIEF LAND GRABBER.

She understandably was the link between the state machinery and the collaborators in the TJRC and would on numerous occasions be spotted at a Karen Hotel with government officials discussing how to alter the report.

Because of her role, she fell out with all foreign commissioners, Ethiopian, Zambian and American who resigned and cut off links with the rest of the team.

Ms. Ngugi, is a relative of the President and a close confidante of the Kenyatta’s. She works at the behest of his family. She is an interested party and who follows the script as given to her. With this background, she is the least qualified person to succeed Mr. Hassan at the helm of the IEBC.
