IS the US Government gravitating towards the Jubilee administration and slacking in its pursuit of democracy and good governance? Well, US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec has apparently had rather cozy ties with the Kenya Government, despite his hitherto stinging criticism of the regime. This has left civil society and other analysts wondering if the envoy of the leader of free world has shifted the goalposts.
Of interest, US multinational companies have landed lucrative tenders with the government, including the Sh300 billion Nairobi-Mombasa Highway expansion contract.
The ambassador was among the foreign envoys who backed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection on August 8 and even attended the controversial official opening of Parliament on Tuesday.
