PRESS RELEASE; SEPTEMBER 5, 2016:
RAILA TO JUBILEE: RESULTS; NOT NEW BLUE PRINTS.
CORD leader Hon Raila Odinga started his first leg of a five-day visit to western Kenya with a call to Jubilee to show Kenyans the results of its four years in power instead of unveiling new promises at State House conferences every Monday.
“Results, not New Blue Prints on Top of Old Promises,” will be Mr Odinga’s rallying call throughout his five day visit to western Kenya. He is asking voters to judge Jubilee by what it has delivered while in power and not the new blue prints it is unveiling at injury time.
It is Mr Odinga’s view that Jubilee should take Kenyans through each of the promises it made in the run up to 2013 elections and show what became of each. He is challenging Jubilee to show the results of the last four years and stop telling to Kenyans that it can work miracles in the remaining 11 months.
“Piling new promises and blue prints on top of the unfulfilled old promises amount to seeking power by fraud and conning Kenyans. As Opposition, we will not allow Jubilee defraud Kenyans again,” Raila said, vowing to force Jubilee to own its past promises that it has failed to deliver.
“We are in the fourth year of Jubilee,” Raila said. The governing coalition cannot tell Kenyans it will build this or that road. It must show us the roads it has built and why the others have not been built. It must show us what it has delivered,” that is our message here.
Laptops for schools, sports stadia in every county, One (1) million acres under irrigation, ensuring affordable cost of living, ending corruption, development of tourism resort and 10,000 km of roads are some of the outstanding promises Mr. Odinga says Jubilee has gone silent on and which cannot be realized in the remaining months to elections.
