Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is now facing a fresh hurdle in his re-election bid after a city lawyer filed a new petition at the EACC to bar him from seeking re-election.
The city lawyer Maobe Maotsetung wants the EACC to take decisive action and bar Kidero from the August 8 polls since he’s under investigations by the anti-graft body over integrity issues and alleged embezzlement of public funds.
Maotsetung wants EACC to move with speed and take action over existing court orders that directed the Commission to take action against Kidero for non-compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 due to his integrity issues.
Kidero was last year on the spot after the National Intelligence Service confirmed that Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi took a bribe of KSh 200 million from agents connected to Kidero, to ensure he won a petition challenging his election in 2013.
Tunoi was later suspended after the Judicial Service Commission recommended for his removal from office over scandal.
Here is the petition submitted to the EACC on the May 3 2017.
