WHY Kenyan ATHLETES are DEFECTING to Represent other Countries

Date:

By Arap Doyo

Our athletes are right in running for foreign countries. Do not be deluded by the patriotism talk and all the other hogwash. You don’t tolerate trash or mistreatment because you are patriotic. Go where you are celebrated, not tolerated.

The other day, our athletes were stranded at the airport because there were no tickets for some of them. Why? Athletics Kenya (AK) is such an ass. On the other hand, all the MPs with millions of allowances were there already servicing Latino honey pots mercilessly.

Until a time when our government appreciates our athletes as the global brand ambassadors they are, Kenya will be on the losing end. (Pun intended)

And however much it pains me to see them wave the flags of Bahrain, Qatar or USA after a win, I will always agree with them.
Next time, when Kenya faciliates MPs to attend global sports events, they should be let to run on our behalf. Because they are more valued and enjoy better privileges.

Meanwhile TUKO adds>>

The reason for most of the athletes changing allegiance is to gain financial rewards and for others, a chance to participate in the Olympics as competition for qualifying in Kenya is cutthroat.

Some of the Kenyan-born athletes have changed nationalities to nations like Israel, Bosnia and even Azerbaijan.

According to statistics, there are more than 20 athletes born in Kenya representing their adopted nations at the Rio Olympics.
