KCB Foundation Partners with Kajiado County to Empower Youth and Local Businesses Through Ksh 140 Million Deal
The KCB Foundation and the County Government of Kajiado have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at transforming the lives of youth and supporting small businesses in the county through the 2Jiajiri program.
The deal includes a Ksh 40 million joint investment to roll out the 2Jiajiri initiative across Kajiado, with a focus on equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills and training in key sectors.
In addition to the program funding, the partnership also proposes the creation of a Ksh 100 million MSME fund. This fund will improve access to finance for local enterprises, promote financial literacy, and drive inclusive economic growth — particularly for youth- and women-led businesses.
Speaking during the MoU signing, KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the collaboration represents a strong step forward in the fight against youth unemployment and economic exclusion.
“We are happy to have Kajiado County on board as we catalyse youth economic development across our communities,” said Ms. Njonjo.
The 2Jiajiri program is designed to empower youth through:
Vocational training
Start-up capital
Business incubation
Access to financial services
The new MSME fund will also offer:
Market access opportunities
Diaspora banking solutions
Mentorship and business support services
Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku welcomed the partnership, saying it will uplift the county’s young entrepreneurs and build stronger, self-sufficient communities.
The collaboration marks a major step for KCB Foundation’s vision to drive economic resilience at the grassroots level by supporting businesses that are often left behind in the formal credit market.
The initiative is expected to directly benefit thousands of youth and small-scale entrepreneurs in Kajiado County, and could serve as a model for similar partnerships in other counties.
The KCB Foundation continues to position itself as a key driver of sustainable community development, anchored in practical support for enterprise and employment.
