Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has dismissed the third force alliance fronted by Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba as a Jubilee project.
Speaking during Mizani ya Nipashe Jumapili on Citizen Television on Sunday night, Ojaamong said it was certain that the pressure group is after assisting Jubilee secure votes in the region.
” Jubilee has a hidden hand in the yet to be formed party and there is no secret about it. Time will tell the motive behind the third force alliance,” he said.
The Governor denied claims that he has already been endorsed as ODM candidate in 2017 gubernatorial contest. ” I welcome those who want the seat on Orange party ticket so that we can battle it out.
I will support the winner if I don’t make it in the primaries. My opponents should also follow suit if I emerge the winner,” he said.
The Governor denied claims that most roads in Busia were impassable, adding that roads which are impassable are under the national government.
He said his government has opened up many virgin roads and that they have set aside Sh350m to tarmac roads linking to estates in Busia and Malaba.
Ojaamong said ODM is becoming strong in the County despite the exit of Ababu Namwamba and Paul Otuoma from top national positions.
He lauded Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli for uniting the people of Western Kenya and urged leaders to emulate that gesture instead of trying to mortgage the Luhya community to Jubilee.
He denied claims that there was disunity in Cord with co-principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka reading from different scripts.
Ojaamong said the main aim was to vote out Jubilee from power. Any of the Cord co-principals can carry the coalition’s presidential ticket he said.
